Our History

Founder and CEO, Steve Hudgins has a long standing history with steel and rebar fabrication that extends over three decades. After twelve years of employment with a steel fabrication facility in Atlanta, GA Steve decided it was time to branch out on his own and follow his dream of starting his own steel company. Operating from his backyard with a chicken shed for cover, a tractor with a PTO to operate the shear and a rent-to-own electric rebar bender, Steve worked from dawn until dusk in those first years to grow his company. His goal was to create a service oriented rebar fabrication company that operated on biblical based principles. Competing with larger, well known steel manufacturers was of no consequence to Steve. Putting his faith in God, he believed that offering a quality product coupled with excellent customer service would speak for itself. Hudgins Steel has a loyal customer base that extends as far back as the company itself as well as a new and ever growing customer base.   

Hudgins Steel’s first employee was Steve’s son, Matthew Hudgins. Matthew began by assisting Steve after school and on the weekends. Matthew is now the production manager overseeing all aspects of fabrication and delivery. The company has grown into a full scale steel powerhouse with multiple employees that include a third generation of Hudgins.

Never forgetting it’s humble beginnings, Hudgins Steel presently operates out of a 12,000 square foot building in Gainesville, GA with a full time staff for estimating, detailing, fabrication and delivery. Long gone are the days of the tractor with the PTO to shear. Hudgins Steel has state of the art equipment to utilize in the fabrication of the rebar as well as a fleet of trucks to bring your delivery directly to your jobsite. While the company has grown through the years, Steve has never forgotten his original goal of offering a quality product along with the best customer service in the industry.
